How to Stop Pop Up Windows

Solutions for preventing future problems.

• Make sure your anti-virus software is always up to date by selecting its automatic update feature.
• Install the free Spybot Search & Destroy from http://www.safer-networking.org/.
• Install a pop up stopping program such as Pop Up Stopper.
• Use an email SPAM filter.
• Use the latest Windows operating system and activate its auto-update feature.

Instructions to remove pop-up windows advertisements and pornography:

Uninstall DownloadWare

Step 1: Perform an automatic uninstall.

1. From the taskbar, click Start.
2. Click Settings.
3. Click Control Panel.
4. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
5. Remove the following programs, if present:
• DownloadWare
• Network Essentials

Step 2: Delete the program folders.

1. From the taskbar, click Start.
2. Click Run.
3. Type C:\Program Files
4. Click OK.
5. Delete the following folders:
• DownloadWare
• MovieNetworks
• Network Essentials

Note: To delete a folder, click on the folder to highlight it. Right-click on the folder to open a menu. Click Delete. When the confirmation box appears, click Yes.

Step 3: Edit the registry.

1. From the taskbar, click Start.
2. Click Run.
3. Type regedit
4. Click OK.
5. The Registry Editor appears. Click the plus sign (+) next to each of the following:
• HKEY_CURRENT_USER
• Software
6. Delete each of the following in the left pane:
• DownloadWare
• Hopper
• MediaCharger
• Webinstall
7. Restart the computer.
